The SUITT, organized a peer-to-peer training on Hate Speech on the Internet: Causes, Consequences and Prevention and brought together psychology students for an interactive session on digital aggression. The training was facilitated by student Viktoriia Ahafonova together with Mariana Todorova, Associate Professor at the Department of Cyberpsychology and Rehabilitation. In a country where the ongoing war has intensified online hostility and digital polarization, the topic carries particular urgency.
Participants discussed real-life cases and explored the psychological drivers of online hate speech, its social and individual impacts, and practical strategies for prevention. They also reflected on their future role as psychologists in supporting victims of cyberhate and fostering a culture of safe digital communication.
The training was organized within the DAAD funded-project Transnational Educational and Research Strategies Against Digital Hate. The project promotes research, knowledge exchange and the development of educational approaches to counter digital hate.
