Balancing Work and Life: Self-Management for Postdocs
When: Thu, 30.11.2023 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM
Where: Hamburg Research Academy, Gorch-Fock-Wall 7, 20354 Hamburg
Research, teaching, career planning, possibly a family – and time for yourself: Balancing all of those areas is challenging. In order to meet the different demands and to stay healthy, both self-organization and self-care are essential.
This workshop is about developing a life-balance model that meets your own goals and needs – both professionally and privately. Against the background of your individual work and life situation, you will critically scrutinize your resources, values and priorities as well as your roles and role expectations. Which resources and conditions do you already have to combine the important areas of your life, which may be needed or missing?
In addition to techniques of self-management, the course concentrates on stress prevention and management: Which stressors and typical stress traps exist and how can they be avoided? What are your individual internal and external stress drivers and how can you deal with them? The course tackles the subject with a mix of theory, group work and a large number of self-reflection exercises.
