The Foundation of Decisions in Research Funding and Publishing
Peer Review is at the heart of every important decision in research and science: regarding funding as well as in publishing or decisions about hiring new personnel. The speaker explores the reasoning behind peer review processes and, by retracing its history, aims to make the current status, procedures and dilemmas of peer review comprehensible. By discussing its inherent trade-offs, deliberating critical arguments which highlight the problems of peer review and presenting current approaches for finding solutions for these problems, the speaker invites the audience to reflect on how to determining the value of scientific insight.
Postdoc Talks: The online series provides an open platform for discussing topics central to the postdoctoral career path. You can gain insights from experts in the research landscape and the academic community, while also exchanging ideas with other postdocs.
