Since 2021, the Faculty of Education has been participating in an International Doctoral Program on Education, a Culture of Peace, and Human Rights. The program is based at the Universidad de El Salvador and is coordinated by the University of Barcelona. In addition to the University of Hamburg, universities in Baja California, Bogotá, Magdalena, Santo Domingo, and Turin are also involved.
Twenty-two doctoral candidates are enrolled in the program. In their dissertations, they address human rights issues in the education of police officers, medical doctors, lawyers, and teachers. They also examine conditions in schools and universities, conduct research on the inclusion of people with disabilities, the educational situation in Indigenous communities, and experiences of violence among different social groups.
The project team at the Faculty of Education supervises several doctoral dissertations. In addition, lecturers from Hamburg conduct three two-week graduate courses in person at the Universidad de El Salvador as part of the program.
