Dr. Yahya Han Erbaş will visit der DivER-Group as part of the Erasmus+ Mobility Program from June 22nd to June 27th, 2025.
During his stay he will present his current research to all interested parties on Wednesday, June 25th, from 12:00 a.m. (s.t.) - 1:30 p.m. in room 215, VMP 8.
The title of his presentation is "The current situation of immigrant and refugee students in the Turkish Education System".
Dr. Yahya Han Erbaş graduated from the Department of Classroom Teaching, Faculty of Education, Cumhuriyet University in 2005. Subsequently, he served as a classroom teacher in multi-grade classrooms in the Southeastern Anatolia region of Turkey for over a year. He received a scholarship from the Ministry of National Education (MEB) under Law No. 1416 for studies abroad. In 2011, he earned his Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Elementary Education from the School of Education at Indiana University. He continued his academic journey at the same institution, obtaining his Ph.D. in Literacy, Culture, and Language Education in 2017. His doctoral research concentrated on multicultural education, teacher education, qualitative research, and literacy education. Upon returning to Turkey in 2018, he joined the Faculty of Education at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, initially within the Department of Basic Education. Since February 2020, he has been serving as a faculty member in the Department of Philosophical, Social, and Historical Foundations of Education, within the Department of Educational Sciences at the same faculty. In March 2023, his application for Associate Professorship was approved by the Inter-University Board (ÜAK), and he was conferred the title of Associate Professor in August 2023.
