LiDS member Sophie Munte at the ALAA Conference 2025 in Darwin

From November 17 to 19, the annual conference of the Applied Linguistics Association of Australia (ALAA) took place at Charles Darwin University in Darwin, Northern Australia, under the theme “Language and the interface of mono-/multi-/translingual mindsets.” One of the participants was LiDS member Sophie Munte, who is currently studying at Macquarie University in Sydney as part of her PhD program. In her presentation, Sophie shared first results of her international comparative doctoral project on “Policy Approaches to Parent-School Communication in Linguistically Diverse Schools.”
Sophie was awarded an ALAA Postgraduate Conference Scholarship for her project.
