Lesson Observation Sheet - PhyDiv - Physics Teaching in the Context of Linguistic Diversity
- For the PhyDiv study (Brandt et al., 2025), a lesson observation sheet was developed to systematically record the implementation of key features of (educational) language-promoting lesson design in intervention lessons. It was used in the research project to check the consistency between planned and actual interventions (treatment fidelity). The observation sheet does not claim to cover all facets of language-promoting lesson design, but focuses on three key dimensions: 1) General characteristics of consistent language education (10 items), 2) Language use by the teacher (4 items), and 3) Language-promoting classroom interaction/micro-scaffolding (7 items). The lesson observation sheet is available for use via the Forschungszentrum Bildung.
