Hamburg, November 2025 – In cooperation with the DAAD-funded project Together Against Hate on the Internet and the German-French-Bosnian gaming project “Game-X-Change” a workshop on hate on the internet and in gaming was held at the University of Hamburg. Led by Julia Levin, young adults from Germany, France, and Bosnia-Herzegovina discussed misogyny and misandry in the gaming community.
Although women and girls make up half of the gaming scene, they are often the target of insults, sexual harassment, and other forms of online violence. In the workshop, participants shared their own experiences and discussed strategies for combating these forms of hate.
The event combined the exchange of personal experiences with the development of practical approaches for more respectful interaction in gaming communities. The international composition of the group allowed for the contribution of different cultural perspectives and mutual learning.
