Diversity Days x LiDS Lunch Lecture: Heritage Language Maintenance – the Australian Experience

As part of the Diversity Days at the University of Hamburg, the LiDS Lunch Lecture on June 26th, 2025 will take a look at the maintenance of heritage languages. Under the title “Heritage Language Maintenance - the Australian Experience”, guest speakers Hanna Torsh (Macquarie University) and Victoria Benz (Institut für Fremdsprachen und Auslandskunde Erlangen) will present their research. Hanna Torsh will start with a lecture about digital family practices used to maintain and pass on heritage languages. In the second presentation, Victoria Benz will then focus on bilingual early childhood education and discuss the discrepancy between possibilities, necessities, expectations, and institutional implementation. The LiDS Lunch Lecture takes place on June 26th from 12:15 to 1:45 pm in room 208 (VMP8).
