International Workshop on Counteracting Cyberhate held in Odesa

On 17 February 2026, the (SUITT), Ukraine hosted an workshop Cyberhate: Prevention, Counteraction and Self-Protection. The event was organized in cooperation with the University of Hamburg, SUITT and the Department of Education and Science of the Odesa City Council. The workshop was conducted within the DAAD funded project Transnational Educational and Research Strategies Against Digital Hate.
The workshop brought together researchers, education managers, psychologists and cybersecurity specialists, including participants of the School of Leadership Reserve for educational institutions in Odesa. Discussions focused on current educational trends, the psychological impact of online aggression on young people, and institutional approaches to strengthening digital safety and resilience.
Experts addressed cyberhate as a socio-psychological challenge, focusing on its prevalence among adolescents and strategies for prevention. A practical session covered psychosocial self-support and safe digital behaviour. Participants also explored STEM-oriented teaching approaches and discussed the role of international cooperation in building safer digital education environments.
The event contributed to strengthening transnational dialogue and advancing collaborative educational and research initiatives aimed at counteracting digital hate.
