"Language, Migration and Legal Literacy" - Cordial Invitation to the LiDS Lunch Lecture with Dr. Laura Smith-Khan

Legal literacy is negotiated as a key to social participation in migrational contexts. However, barriers continue to exist and bar migrants from developing legal knowledge. Dr. Laura Smith-Khan, Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of New England, Australia, will introduce us to the topic of Legal Literacy in migrational contexts and demonstrate how Australian service providers use the 4-A framework (O’Brien et al. 2018; Grey 2023) to develop strategies that make resources accessible for diverse communities.
The LiDS Lunch Lecture will take place on October 17, 2025, from 12:15 – 1:45 pm in room 213, Von-Melle-Park 8. Registration is requested until October 13: lids.ew@uni-hamburg.de
